Recent Investments in Douglas County


McFarland Cascade a Stella Jones Company – In 2010 McFarland Cascade purchased the old Weyerhaeuser Pole yard located in the Wilbur/Winchester area of Douglas County. McFarland Cascade was founded in 1916, and manufactures utility poles, piling and lumber composite decking/railings and related items. In 2012 McFarland Cascade was absorbed by Stella Jones Inc./Shelby County Forest Products LLC.  Stella Jones/Shelby County Forest Products recently purchased 45+ acres of county land, located adjacent to their pole yard site. 

Fred Wahl Marine Construction – In December 2014, Fred Wahl Marine purchased the former American Bridge building site, over 30 acres located on Bolon Island.  For the past 40 years Fred Wahl Marine has been building large high quality vessels (which includes tug boats, work boats or commercial fishing vessels). Their products being some of the most well known in the Pacific Coast Marine Industry. Fred Wahl offers machine and metal fabrications plus more.  With the purchase of the former American Bridge site, they hope to create 30 more jobs, and have plans for a 500 ton Travelift. 

North River Boats In spring 2013, North River Boats completed the acquisition of a ~75,000 square foot production facility in Green which will allow the consolidation of all manufacturing operations under one roof. The Partnership assisted in identification of funds to support training for the expanded workforce.

City of Roseburg Airport Expansion In September of 2012 the runway expansion at the airport was completed.  The runway is now 5,000 feet long which will enable larger jets to land at the arport which will attract more business to Douglas County.

COSTCO Roseburg In August 2010 Costco opened in Roseburg, a 144,000 sq ft building located north of the City of Roseburg.  Local official hoped that now people throughout the county would shop local, rather than traveling to Medford or Eugene.

TMS – Call Center established is Roseburg in 1990, has been providing call center services for a wide variety of clients. Their services are client driven, flexible, and are particularly well suited for businesses and organizations that need a quick response to changing demands. In 2012 TMS added over 100 new seats to their call center.

In 2015, The Oregonian posted the Top 2015 Workplaces. FCR continues to be recognized as one of the top workplaces in Oregon.
