Lean Link Luncheon Event – August 19, 2015

Come join us – Guest Speaker will be – Marta Clifford Procurement Counselor with GCAP.

Hi there folks! As we continue our summer Lean Link meetings, we’re excited to have Marta Clifford Procurement Counselor with the Government Contract Assistance Program (GCAP) speak at our August event.

Marta has been with GCAP for 11 years and is a VA Certified Verification Counselor and has been trained by the VA to assist SDVOSB (service disabled veteran owned small businesses) and VOSB (veteran owned small businesses) to become verified by the VETBIZ VA Verification Program. Marta also works closely with the Roseburg and White City VA offices to assist contractors to get the needed certifications and registrations to help Veterans with the HISA program. Marta has an ACAS certification (Associate Contracting Assistance Specialist) from the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC), and has attended numerous training conferences through APTAC.

Marta is a SME (subject matter expert) on 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB, and EDWOSB (which are all SBA programs), and has assisted many of Oregon’s small business with these certifications. She also has numerous hours assisting small businesses with the state of Oregon certifications such as the ODOT ESB, the state WOSB, and the minority small business certification.

Along with counseling Marta teaches a wide variety of Government Contracting classes. She also has worked for years in assisting small businesses with the certifications required for government contracting, such as DUNS number, SAM, Reps and Certs, VIPR and EAuth (for firefighting). Marta also has experience in proposal writing and review, and has assisted many small businesses to the ultimate goal of being awarded a contract from the federal and or state governments. mclifford@gcap.org

Some talking points for this event will be:

  • Who is GCAP and how can they assist your small business on the journey to becoming a successful federal, state, or local government contractor. What services does GCAP provide, where do I go to find government solicitations to bid on?
  • Douglas County is a federal and state distressed county, what does this mean and how can GCAP assist a small business to get certified as a federal or state contractor.
  • Planning session for government contracting classes in Roseburg.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 19 at noon in Elmer’s Vineyard Room.

Take care,

P.S. As always, please let us know if there are specific topics you would like us to cover. Email these suggestions to: Kristi Smith Consultant (OMEP) ksmith@omep.org
