Industry Tours

There may be a few seats left for the Lunch Bunch’s summer tour of Sutherlin’s “Economic Drivers,” including visits to Great Northern Trailers, Woodgrains, ServPro and a discussion of Sutherlin’s key drivers. 9AM to 3 PM, June 10. Register ASAP.

 

The Partnership’s spring 2014 industry tour will focus on new & emerging companies in the Roseburg area. Participants will visit: Bravado Outdoor Products, Carrot, and Paul O’Brien Winery. 1 PM to 4 PM, June 25. June 25. Register on-line.

 

Connecting & Supporting Local Students

The Douglas County Partners for Student Success in cooperation with UCC recently received a major grant to support STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art,  and math) education in Douglas County. Focus groups will be held in the evenings (5:30 to 7:00 PM) next week: Reedsport (June 9), Roseburg (June 10), and Drain (June 11). The team is seeking participants, including students, educators, and interested employers. If you are interested, contact Gayle Amorose.

 

Process Improvement In Douglas County: LeanLink & New Support

 Our next monthly meeting of LeanLink will be June 24. Jimmy Holsapple of Roseburg Forest Products will discuss RFP’s use of lean and related tools as they continually improve plant safety. Please register by June 20.

At our last Lean Link meeting, Tim Root of the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership  (OMEP) announced new resources being made available to rural Oregon through OMEP, including both additional on-the-ground support for manufacturers in Douglas County and a leadership development training program that will be offered in the fall. If you are interested in learning how OMEP might help you improve your bottom line through shop-floor improvement programs, supply-chain analysis or related studies, contact The Partnership, and we will arrange a visit.

OEN’s Entrepreneurial Summit 2014: The School of Hard Knocks

Come get schooled at The Kennedy School, where 15 successful Oregon entrepreneurs will share their stories. OEN’s Entrepreneurial Summit: The School of Hard Knocks is your chance to learn the lessons that they learned the hard way. OEN will host an “Entrepreneurs Journey” tradeshow, which includes the local organizations, accelerators, universities and government resources that provide support, mentorship and potential funding for entrepreneurs.
