State Economic Development Developments Oregon Prospector, the State of Oregon’s industrial land database has been relaunched. In addition to an extensive industrial land and building inventory, the website provides access to GIS-based data on workforce, demographics, and business census information.WorkSource Oregon and the Oregon Employment Department are hosting a series of regional discussions to seek industry input on a possible system-wide redesign of the Oregon public workforce system. These sessions are dialogues on how the State can deliver high value services to customers and how to connect qualified workers to employers.

The State has just released their new ten-year employment projections for Oregon. Hints are emerging that the recent decline in labor force participation may be coming to an end.

Visitor Information Training Conference (formerly called the Welcome & Visitor Center Training Conference) will be May 18-20, 2014 at The Mill Casino Hotel and RV Park in Coos Bay. 


Statewide Events 

Building Materials Laboratory – Open House 

OSU is introducing the Multi-Chamber Modular Environment Conditioning  (MCMEC) system for accelerated weathering and thermal testing of full-scale building materials. This unique equipment was funded by the Murdock Charitable Trust, Oregon BEST, and OSU. On April 30, there will be an MCMEC demonstration, poster session, and laboratory tour.  

The Oregon Governor’s Tourism Conference will take place in Sunriver April 27 to 29. Registration is open through April 22.

The 2014 Governor’s Marketplace Conference brings together State, Federal and regional government entities along with private sector firms and non-profit organizations, to help Oregon businesses achieve greater contracting success. The day’s events will feature industry focused training, an inspiring luncheon and a reverse vendor exhibitor fair.
