2014 FoodWorx: The Future of Food conference will be held in Portland February 4. FoodWorx is designed to provoke thought and inspire ideas among everyone who loves, or is involved with, food and drink. What trends will shape the future of food and drink production, manufacturing, travel, distribution and consumption? FoodWorx is a one-day TED-style conference that was created to tackle hard food industry questions and present “food for thought” to everyone who loves food.

Unemployment Insurance Forum hosted by the Oregon Employer Council Douglas County, Jan. 28 (8 – 10 a.m.) at the ESD. Recent changes to the Unemployment Insurance laws and reporting requirements have raised concerns and caused confusion for Oregon employers. This forum will explain the changes and why they were implemented, including the UI Integrity Law. The 2014 Oregon Employer Council Annual State Conference for Business will take place at Seven Feathers May 5 to 6. Presentations over the conference focus primarily on human resource management issues, but cover a range of topics of interest to business. Details and agenda are available from the OEC.
The Eugene Chamber hosts a monthly evening pub talk series, called “Smart Ups.” Each month focuses on a different topic.
