RAIN (Roseburg area Angel Investor Network) Works to Improve Local Access to Capital


The Roseburg area Angel Investor Network will be accepting applications in August (deadline, September 9), for a $125,000 to $150,000 equity investment in an Oregon-based company with significant growth potential. There will also be a business plan competition for local companies only, with a prize package, including cash, worth $5,000. For more information visit the RAIN website. As we assist local companies to gear up for both competitions, there will be a Biz Plan Training: Caroline Cummings of Palo Alto Software (which is a sponsor the “Concept Stage” business plan competition) will provide a training on business planning with an eye towards securing investor support. Oregon Wine Cluster Conference  Friday, August 23 in Jacksonville. This all-day conference will delve deeply into the economics of grape and wine production, markets, focusing on connecting with market tastes for profitability.


The 11th Wood Adhesion Short Course

A Wood-Based Composites Short Course at OSU.

This short course will introduce the basic concepts of adhesion, and then build on these concepts with specific attention to wood. Upon completion of the course, participants will better understand the unique bonding characteristics of wood. They will be better prepared to analyze existing problems and performance, and evaluate new applications. August 19 thru August 21, Corvallis. 


Umpqua Valley Food and Wine

Tickets are still available for this Saturday’s A Taste of the Umpqua  Valley.


Old 99 Brewing received their production license on July 1, joining local brewers Too Shy and  Draper Brewing, with several more expected to enter production soon.


Resources for supporting export activity 

Grants of up to $5,000 are still available for Oregon small businesses who qualify and who wish to participate in an international trade show or mission before  September 30, 2013.
