“Med Ed” effort gets some attention

The Partnership has been working for several months on a research effort to evaluate the potential of establishing a new institution of higher education in central Douglas County. The key players in the feasibility study are The Partnership, Mercy Medical Center of Roseburg, and Mercy College of Des Moines, Iowa.

Currently, the group, is mining data on demand and supply of specific medical technical specialties. From this point, a draft educational program would be developed, possible sites evaluated, and financial feasibility conducted. The goal is to complete a “go-/no-go” decision by fall of this year.

Kelly Morgan, CEO of Mercy Medical Center, made a presentation on January 28 about the effort to the Roseburg City Council. A request to participate in funding the feasibility study has been made to the City. You can view Kelly’s presentation and the Council discussion here.

Susan Morgan, County Commissioner, and Alex Campbell, Executive Director of The Partnership, appeared on KQEN and discussed the project with Kyle Bailey.

If you have questions about the project, please contact The Partnership.
